Blepharoplasty: Everything you need to know about eyelid surgery

How about when we look in the mirror and even though we are having a great day, we look sad or worse when they ask us “are you tired”, without being so? How to avoid it?

Blepharoplasty consists of removing excess skin and fat bags from the eyes that make us look tired. Excess skin on the upper eyelids not only makes us look old, but if we let it progress it can even partially block our vision; We invite you to discover how with a simple blepharoplasty we can avoid it. Make an Appointment

Blepharoplasty is a short procedure performed with local anesthesia where excess skin and fat in the upper eyelids are removed, leaving an almost imperceptible scar in the upper natural fold of the eye; and in the lower eyelids, depending on the case, it can even be performed without an apparent scar through an incision inside the eye called transconjunctival. It is a procedure of no more than an hour with which you can return to your daily tasks as soon as you feel well, but no strenuous exercise or heavy lifting during the first postoperative month.

Tip for a quick recovery:

The first 2-3 days sleep on your back with a 30-degree angle (not lying down flat on the bed) and use cold compresses over the eyes.

If you experience swelling after 72 hours of surgery, alternate warm and cold compresses.

If bruises appear, we recommend not exposing yourself to the sun to prevent bruises becoming permanent dark spots.

I invite you to look to yourself in the mirror, what do you see? If you see that your look is no longer the same, that you have lost expression, if you find excess skin on your upper eyelid or you see bags in your eyes, you may be a candidate for a blepharoplasty. And although blepharoplasty seems like a simple procedure, remember that your face and your expression are your window to the world, so always look for an ideal surgeon with the knowledge, training and experience to do what she/he says will do for you, minimizing risks while enhancing your natural beauty, your inner beauty.

Blepharoplasty, also called eyelid surgery, is in the top 5 of the most frequently performed aesthetic procedures in the world according to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS)” says Dr. Lina Triana, ISAPS president 2022-2024.
