However, technological advances have arrived at a solution through hair transplantation, an ideal procedure for men and women who are not satisfied with the amount of hair they have on their scalp.
The Hair Transplant (Follicular Grafting) replaces the lost hair with the patient’s own hair, which comes from the occipital region, or back and sides of the head, called donor zones. The follicles are extracted by cutting strips of the scalp and manually excising the follicles using a microscope; this process can be done manually or by means of a robot called Hair Matic with the Neograf Triana Fue technique. When the robot is used, a series of dermal punches are made to extract the follicles without leaving a visible scar on the scalp, then these follicles are transplanted manually into the area chosen by the patient. With my patient I choose the best way to perform the procedure.

The ideal candidate for this surgery is any healthy patient who suffers from alopecia or baldness and anyone who wishes to increase the density of their hair. The result is more noticeable in patients whose hair loss has stabilized.
How is a hair transplant procedure performed?
The hair transplant is performed with local anesthesia and sedation, through the occipital extraction of the follicles and their placement by means of the follicular unit technique, thus achieving a natural increase in the number of follicular units in the sparse areas.
What is recovery from a hair transplant procedure like?
After hair surgery the patient must wear a bandage on the head for 24 or 48 hours. It is recommended not to do physical activity for fifteen days, to avoid the sun and to use a cap for a month. The estimated time to begin seeing follicular growth is three to four months. The final results will be noticeable one year after surgery.
