Size does matter. Choose the most appropriate for your breasts with the rice test

Personal taste, the proportions of your body and the look you expect to have after breast augmentation, are determining factors when choosing the size of your breast implants. Of course, you have to consider the opinion of a certified plastic surgeon, who will speak to you about the real expectations regarding this surgery and will assure that you will get the breasts you have always wanted.
Implants depend on your anatomy

When it comes to choosing breast prostheses with all of the required quality certifications, be they silicone-gel or saline solution, you must make sure they fit the proportions of your body. Hence, it is very important to consider physical characteristics such as the size of the rib cage, the shape of the chest, and the natural volume of the breasts in order to determine the size your implants will be.

Your plastic surgeon’s evaluation is essential. He or she must consider certain conditions of your skin and even determine whether you have enough tissue to cover the breast implants.

Discover the right size for you

Although bra cups are labeled A, B and C, the size of the breast implants do not correspond to that classification. Indeed, the volume is determined in cubic centimeters (cc) to define the capacity of the mammary prostheses, which range from 120 cc to 850 cc and even a little more.

Let’s see what the Test of Rice is, which is also measured in cubic centimeters. Give it a try and discover the perfect size of breast implants for you! The first thing to know is that one ounce equals 30 cc. Now, using a measuring cup, you may start with 300 cc, that is 10 ounces. This is quite the average volume of breast prostheses. Once you have the measured rice, pour it into a small cloth bag and tie it with string at the top. Then, wear an unpadded bra and put the rice bags in it, trying to shape it, like this. Facing the mirror, you may begin to determine what your ideal size is by removing or adding more ounces of rice to your cloth bags.

Do this test also with your clothes on so you can get an idea of how you will look with larger breasts. Look closely at how your breasts look compared to the rest of your figure; if they are not proportionate to the rest of your body, be realistic and decide if that is indeed the look you really want to have after the surgery.

Work closely your surgeon

Talk to him or her about your preferences regarding breast size. Show him or her images or photographs of people with the breast size you want, for your surgeon to have more information about the expectations of your surgery. Tell him or her how you would you like to look and try to describe what you want in as much detail as possible.

Once you expose your views listen to what your surgeon has to say. If, in his or her professional experience, the conclusion is that your selection is too big or too small, pay close attention to the arguments. The specialist knows, more than anyone, what may be best for you.

It is also very important that, together, you take into account the projection or profile of the breast implants (high, moderate or low) to match your chest’s width.

Discuss the surface and shape of the implant. The most common surface options are smooth or textured; each has pros and cons that must be analyzed. Breast implant shapes usually include an anatomical and two-dimensional teardrop contour, with the shape of a natural breast, and are considered anatomically correct.

Remember that choosing the size of breast prostheses is a completely personal decision, so not your mate, your friends or anyone else can make this decision for you. Otherwise, in the event you are not satisfied with the results, you will feel frustrated and remain with aspect you do not want.
